Google vs Facebook

First it was Myspace, now it’s Facebook, but will it soon be Google Plus? It seems that staying at the top of the pile of social media is never assured, and as we have already seen with Myspace the higher you get the harder you fall. So now with Facebook at its zenith, and a new challenger in the form ofGoogle Plus on the horizon, is it time for a changing of the Social Media top dog?

If it was a boxing match it would be the title bout, the two big hitters going toe to toe in a free for all brawl, the challenger wants you and the title holder wants to keep you.

In the red corner we have Facebook, the seven year old undisputed champion, it has the reputation and momentum to back it up and with over 750 million people that ‘like’ it and its own movie, surely defending its title of Social Media King should be in the bag.

But in the blue corner we have the challenger, Google Plus. The new kid on the block when it comes to social media, this site has big backing. Though still in its invite only phase it’s already quickly growing with over 10 million people actively using it. Many analysts are already raving about some of Google Plus’s functionalities, such as its unique circle categories and excellent integration with other Google services.

Who’s going to win? No one can honestly say. But Facebook certainly needs to watch its back, because if anyone can knock them off the podium Google can.

In the end the most important question is, who are you going to back? If you’re interested in a Google Plus invite, get in contact with us, we are always happy to share the love.
